In 2017, I was contacted by a really nice lady from Missouri via Instagram DM. Although I had never met her, she assured me that she had recently won the Powerball for over $800 million and she desperately wanted to share her winnings with people in need. I casually asked her “what’s the catch, and how much would I be receiving?” She replied, “no catch, I just need you to electronically send me $90 to cover the cost of shipping and the money (about $20k) will be in your mailbox in approx. three days.” Now, I never took that chance, because surely it was a scam, but I was just wondering, has something like this ever happened to anyone else?

  1. Thats crazy! I have never experienced something like that before, just always lot’s of spam emails and text messages. Usually they are trying to scam me claiming things like I have unpaid fees for services I have never signed up for.

  2. No, its never happened to me. Because, as soon as someone wants money up front to send you something… especially money… you know its a scam. Its sad that we are in a society now that even “good people” cant be trusted.
