In 2017, I was contacted by a really nice lady from Missouri via Instagram DM. Although I had never met her, she assured me that she had recently won the Powerball for over $800 million and she desperately wanted to share her winnings with people in need. I casually asked her “what’s the catch, and how much would I be receiving?” She replied, “no catch, I just need you to electronically send me $90 to cover the cost of shipping and the money (about $20k) will be in your mailbox in approx. three days.” Now, I never took that chance, because surely it was a scam, but I was just wondering, has something like this ever happened to anyone else?
Thats crazy! I have never experienced something like that before, just always lot’s of spam emails and text messages. Usually they are trying to scam me claiming things like I have unpaid fees for services I have never signed up for.
Thank you for sharing! I feel like those are pretty common nowadays. I’m glad to know you’ve never fallen victim to something like this!
People really think all people be being stupid. Stupid people.
That’s the world we live in..
No, its never happened to me. Because, as soon as someone wants money up front to send you something… especially money… you know its a scam. Its sad that we are in a society now that even “good people” cant be trusted.
So, it has happened to you? You’ve just never fallen for it. But yeah… That’s why it will always be best to do everything in person.
I pretty much assume everything is a scam anymore. You’re right, this is the world we live in 🙁
Yep, even before this I never really responded to random DMs. However, now I don’t even open them.
